A driving licence entitles you to drive one or more categories of motor vehicle. Anyone who passes a driving test and fulfils certain criteria concerning health and good character is entitled to a driving licence.
Driving safely is your responsibility
If you are uncertain about your ability to drive safely because of health problems or the side-effects of medication, you have a duty to consult your doctor. If your doctor, psychologist or optician considers that you are not fit to have a driving licence, he or she must report this to the County Governor. The County Governor will inform the police if your driving licence has to be wholly or partially revoked.
You can apply for the return of your licence
You can apply to either the police or the County Governor for the return of your licence. Your driving licence may be returned if and when you once again fulfil the relevant medical requirements.
