Health service in the petroleum activities

The Norwegian Board of Health in Rogaland is in cooperation with, the Norwegian Pollution Control Authority and the Petroleum Safety Authority Norway the supervisory authorities on the Norwegian Continental shelf.
The Norwegian Board of Health in Rogaland has also made agreements with the Norwegian Maritime Directorate to give statements (LOC) in connection with conditions relating to health and hygiene on moveable facilities where a maritime certificate is wanted; and with the Norwegian Institute of Public Health about supervision with potable water on appliance that is not included by the supervision from Norwegian Maritime Directorate.
 
Some of our tasks are:
  • Handling with applications for consent
  • Supervision with mobile offshore units
  • Supervision with fixed offshore units
  • Supervision with different rented vessels
  • Supervision with health service by licensee (operator) on the Norwegian shelf.
  • Supervision with food management (food delivery)
  • Supervision with boardservice
  • Preparedness relating to health care and health services
Other tasks related to activities offshore:
  • Development of regulations.
  • Approval of foreign medical doctors to issue certificate of fitness to persons engaged in the petroleum activities on the Norwegian Continental shelf.
  • Approval for doctors to issue certificate of health to divers engaged in the petroleum activities on the Norwegian Continental shelf.
  • Handling applications when the conditions for issuing a certificate of medical fitness are not fulfilled.
