The office of the county governor carries out tasks
subject to the Salmonids and Fresh-Water Fish Act and associated
regulations. These tasks include setting regulations concerning the
fishing of salmonids and fresh water fish in watercourses, processing
applications for fish cultivation, collecting catch statistics and
registering sea salmon fishing activities.
Supervision is an important task in the work to
maintain and strengthen fish stocks. The office of the county governor
carries out inspections in cooperation with landowners, fishing
societies, police authorities, the Norwegian Nature Inspectorate and the
Norwegian Coastal Administration.
